The Trust was established in 1999 at the instigation of Cadw, the Welsh Government’s historic environment agency, to take into care some of the best examples of redundant non-Church in Wales buildings, for the benefit of local communities and future generations. It has a national role in promoting the understanding, appreciation and enjoyment of the religious built-heritage of Wales. The Trust receives grant aid from a variety of sources including Cadw, other Welsh and UK Government departments, various local authorities, and numerous grant making trusts and bodies, as well as donations from businesses and private individuals.
From its beginnings, the Trust has received an annual grant from Cadw towards its running costs, including insurance and basic maintenance of our portfolio of buildings. However, it is not sufficient to fund what needs to be done. The generosity of our supporters has never been more important!
