Yr Hen Gapel – Work To Date
A major scheme of repair work has been prepared by our architect Roger Clive Powell. The first phase of repairs is due to commence in October 2014. The work will consist of re-slating the roof, repairs to the ceiling and other internal plasterwork, repairs to windows and doors, re-pointing and repairs to monuments set into Chapel wall, repairs to boundary walls and to pathways, including providing level access from the roadside. Total cost of works will be approximately £175,000.
This work is being funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund, Cadw, Ceredigion County Council, Llandysul Community Council, and the Listed Places of Worship Grant Scheme.
The repairs at Yr Hen Gapel are being undertaken as a part of a larger project, which includes a Unitarian Faith Trail, and various digital and online resources and interpretation of the Trust’s buildings and the history of Welsh chapels more generally.
